It’s time for Adventure!

What does the word “adventure” mean to you? Whether you imagine an adrenaline-fueled experience or the journey of an ancient explorer, choose this adventure and set off!

1. How Pula Became Entangled in the Myth of the Golden Fleece

According to legend, the hero Jason and his band of ancient Greek warriors stole the Golden Fleece from a mystical ram. The Colchians pursued them but failed to reclaim it. Disgraced and unable to return home, they settled on the Adriatic coast and founded the city of Pula.

2. From Pula to Space Travel

Did you know that the space station in 2001: A Space Odyssey was inspired by the designs of Herman Potočnik Noordung, a Pula-born pioneer of rocket science? Visit the H.P. Noordung Visitor Center at the more about his visionary work.

3. A Fearless Visionary

In 1866, Admiral Wilhelm von Tegetthoff set sail from Pula and led the Austrian navy to victory against the Italians at the Battle of Vis. He also initiated the construction of a naval observatory in the city. A monument of the admiral once stood in Pula, depicting him gazing out to sea binoculars—but today, that same monument can be found in Graz.

4. The Sky Beneath the Clouds

Imagine soaring above the Pula Arena, Nesactium, the Brijuni Islands, and the breathtaking contrast between lush green landscapes and the deep blue sea. You can see it all if you dare to experience an unforgettable panoramic flight!

5. Rise to Antiquity

A unique rock climbing site awaits—the remains of a Roman quarry that once provided stone for building the Pula Arena. Here, you can enjoy climbing all year round. The only distraction? Summer performances— but isn’t that another great reason to visit?

6. The Best Way to Explore Kamenjak? By Bike!

Premanturka or Orchid? The Premanturka trail passes through the fishing village of Pomer, winds through the magical Upper Kamenjak, and offers stunning views of the Medulin archipelago. The Orchid trail leads you through the Dinosaur Path, ending with a spectacular view of the Porer lighthouse. Which trail will you choose?

7. Beware of the Histri!

Near Valtura, hidden among the ruins, lie the remains of Nesactium—the largest city of the ancient Histri people and the site of a great battle against the Romans. The fearless and proud Histri, led by King Epulon, chose to perish rather than fall into Roman hands.

8. A Ride Crowned by Blooming Broom

The Ližnjan municipality is perfect for cycling along the coast. Choose the scenic trail 333. The most adventurous among you will take on the full 45 km route. The best time to visit? May, when the broom bushes burst into bloom. Have you noticed that vibrant yellow flower on the county coat of arms?

9. Exploring the Military Past

Once, the fence of this mysterious complex marked the end of the road, even for the locals of Šišan. But now, venture forward—you’ll be rewarded when a peaceful walk through the grove reveals the remains of the great military fortress of Svetica.

10. Want to Swim in an Idyllic Bay?

If only you knew how breathtaking the hidden bays in our area are! Some can only be reached by sea—so head to Krnica Harbour and hop on one of the many boat tours. The Krnički Porat beach is a perfect spot for snorkelling, with crystal-clear waters and vibrant marine life.

11. Diving or Horseback Riding?

Another fantastic snorkelling location is Školjić Beach, just below Kavran, where you can explore its lively underwater world. Don’t be surprised if you spot a snake-like moray eel gliding through the sea! If you prefer to stay on land, visit Kavran Ranch, where you can enjoy horseback riding along three scenic trails that pass through lush olive groves.

12. A Small Village of Big Cyclists

If you’ve arrived here on two wheels, you’ll instantly understand the deep passion Loborika has for cycling. Stop by the House of Cycling to hear the inspiring story of how this love for the sport gave rise to famous athletes Nevio Valčić and Cvjetko Bilić. Then take bike path 344 through Muntić, Marčana, Valtura and back to Loborika.

13. By Bike, Exploring Dry-stone Walls

Did you know that the art of dry-stone wall construction is on the UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage list? The 16 km circular bike trail, Kažuni and Drywalls, takes you through a stunning landscape outlined by these traditional stone walls. Along the way, you’ll discover several magnificent kažuni—small, dome-shaped stone shelters—and learn the secrets of their construction.

14. A Visit to the Four-Legged Therapists

The farm, home to native Istrian species, is a delightful adventure for both kids and adults. The friendly animals are wonderful hosts but also true healers. That’s why many people regularly visit the goats, donkeys, and the rest of the gang.

15. How to Mow the Grass on Top of a Bell Tower?

According to legend, two young men once tried to clear the grass growing on top of a bell tower—with the help of a goat! They tied the poor animal to a rope and hoisted it to the top. As for what happened next… let’s just say that in the end, the boys still had to remove the grass by hand.

16. Dive into the Past

Grab a snorkel and explore the underwater world of Fažana. Discover the sunken Roman breakwater at Cape Mede, shaped like a hook, and search for ancient amphorae. If you’re lucky, you might even spot a sea hare, one of our most amusing marine creatures!

17. An Adventure Under the Golden Sky

Set sail from Fažana’s port at sunset and watch playful dolphins in their natural habitat. Every leap they make is a memory to treasure and an adventure in itself.

18. The Fighting Spirit of Fažana

Fresh air, outdoor fitness, and a seaside promenade—the perfect combination for a healthy body and mind. Along the 5 km promenade through Valbandon and Fažana, you’ll come across numerous sculptures, including one of the legendary boxer Mate Parlov, a symbol of strength and perseverance. Take a break on one of our themed benches—each one tells a story about the rich history of this region.
